MEDIUM – MAGNUM – MAXIMUM
Over the years, the balers were developed further, and the performance and bale density increased. New models such as the LD, MEDIUM, MAGNUM and MAXIMUM came onto the market. In 1972/73, the successful era of the CLAAS ram balers came to an end.
1962
Metz facility
CLAAS recognised early on that cooperation with other countries is important for the contunuing success of the company. For baler production, a strategically important facility was located in Metz, France. Besides Germany, France is the most important market for agricultural machines. A centre of the steel industry is in Lothringen; moreover, many leading technology companies are headquartered there.
1966
MARKANT
Demands from the field for higher density and dimensionally stable bales led to the development of the MARKANT conventional square baler. The bales had a dimension of 36 x 46 cm and could be moved by one person.
1973
Bale thrower
The attached bale thrower eliminated the need for the two people on the hitch who stacked the bales. Over time, a complete family of balers emerged. The TRABANT rounded out the product line at the bottom end, the DOMINANT at the top end. By the year 2000, CLAAS had built 135,000 balers of this type.
